Jug Bay Site 2

Coordinates for site two:
N38 47.271 W76 42.898

Site two had fencing around the marsh to prevent the Canadian geese from eating the wild rice. The geese eat two pounds of food a day and there are hundreds of geese that occupy the land. The Canadian gees's large appetite is taking a tole on the wild rice and significantly decreasing its presence. They are eating the land faster than it can grow! The problem with the geese eating all of the wild rice is that the wild rice is what makes Jug Bay so special. The wild rice attracts over 250 different species of bird. Jug Bay also nests 100 species of birds. Jug Bay is a big feeding ground for birds along their migration south. Without the wild rice Jug Bay would lose a large amount of its significance.
